Everyone is talking about the need to change Washington, and that Barack Obama is the man to do so. He himself is change. He is someone new. I don't disagree with a word of that! Barack Obama is exactly what this country needs. But one thing I have to say is that we need to change state-by-state as well. This year Delaware will have its first competitive primary in well over a decade, and we will have a choice between more of the same, or something new. Our governor, Ruth Ann Minner, is just about as popular as George Bush is nationally as she is locally. While she is a Democrat, she has stood up for all the wrong things. Now, her Lt. Gov., John Carney is running to replace her as she is constrained by term limits. He just thought he was going to walk away with the nomination and the election. Well, he didn't account for the groundswell of support for a man few thought would even run. A few short months ago he was being pressured by the insiders not to run. Thankfully, against all odds Jack Markell has waged a campaign for all Delawareans, and all Americans as he joins Barack Obama in his message of Change!

I'm fifteen years old and I understand how important these elections are, both for President and Governor. I know that the world I'm left very well could be worse than my parents, and many of you inherited. That is not something I will tolerate. That is why I have backed the candidacy of the two people who best represent change-- Barack Obama and Jack Markell.
Both Barack and Jack started their campaigns in a similar situation. The Democratic insiders, the people behind closed doors told them that it wasn't their turn. They were told to wait a couple years. Let Hillary have it nationally, and here in Delaware Carney should just take over. They said these people were next in line; Barack and Jack would get their turn down the road. Well, Barack and Jack stood up! They stood up for you, and they stood up for me. They stood up for a brighter future for each and every one of us, because they understood that these elections were too important to be decided over pecking order. They should be about the issues!
Both Barack Obama and Jack Markell had opponents who thought they had the nomination in the bag. Hillary couldn't even fathom a situation where she would lose. The same is the case here in Delaware. John Carney thought he had the election wrapped up before he even announced. Well, Hillary lost, and I have now joined the fight to create another upset, and to let change prevail!
Will you join me? Delaware is a small state, but money remains as important as ever. Every dollar here is vital! Besides, this money goes a lot further in our market. Jack has just launched an ad buy, and we need to fund it! You've answered the call for Barack; can you do the same for Jack? Donations of $5, $10, $25 are much appreciated. Look into what he has to say at www.markell.org. Trust me, you'll be pleased. (He's the only candidate offering a universal health care plan. Carney has actually said that universality is not a vital component!) So again, please consider a small contribution. Markell is running a grassroots campaign for change. I've joined! Now it's your turn!
