Near the end of McSame's comedic gold interview where he was asked about the fairness of insurance companies covering Viagra but not birth control, he said that "I will get back to you" on it and "I usually don't duck an issue, but I'll try to get back to you". Well, as a wise green muppet once said, "there is no try... only do".
So I guess the question is, has McSame looked into it yet? I'd rather not dwell too much on what would go into him researching the subject, but I would think that when Mr. Straight Talk (all rights reserved) says that he'll get back to you, he gets back to you. On more than one occasion, I've seen McSame say "I'll get back to you on that" when he doesn't have an answer. And to be fair, that's perfectly valid. Sometimes we don't have an answer. Even when it's a yes or no question that most people should have an instant response to, like "do you like pie?" The campaign has apparently issued a statement that says that McSame favors a system in which a woman can dump her health insurance if it isn't meeting her needs and pick a new one that does. But the question was "Do you think it's fair...?" I guess straight talk only goes so far. I'd like to know his answer because what if all insurance companies decided to cover viagra and not birth control. What if there were no plan that met your needs? Would that be fair?
I can understand why he doesn't want to answer it. Say that it's unfair and that insurance companies should cover birth control and he's made an already depressed religious right base even more depressed. Say that it's fair and birth control shouldn't be covered and he can kiss any dreams of winning over all those undecided moderate women who are flirting with the idea voting for McSame. And say that he doesn't think that insurance companies should cover viagra at all, well... then he loses most of the old, rich, white guy vote. And Bob Dole's support. What's a maverick to do?
