Naomi Klein is on Democracy Now. Yep, I'm still a guy. She's a beautiful, incredibly intelligent and highly educated woman. I could hope to come across as well as she does, but I don't think my mug would measure up. I better stick to writing and keep my face off the television.
Funny story (okay, not really). I wrote about the Feith Hearing yesterday. Then I found an old DK diary written in June that made me think I had my facts wrong. In what can only be described as a fit of hysterical self doubt I deleted a diary which was absolutely factual and correct, and important. [sigh]
In case you do not know, Doug Feith is one of the dirty, slimy snakes who helped justify the administration's torture policies. He boasted to author Philippe Sands that he was a "real player" in Cheney's torture program. I look to history for the only justice I still have faith in. I hope I can find a way to view or listen to the hearing.
Bitter humor after the flip.
Shameless plug of Wonkette live press conference coverage. Bush on those people in the desert: "They have no disregard for human life." I wish I could be there in person to watch this man slowly crumble under the weight of his massive failures. For a guy with a history degree he sure screwed the pooch on his legacy. Let me think... do I feel sorry for him? Thinking about the possibility is good for a laugh.
Goodbye, AP! I looked to you for news for a long time. I can't even watch Fox News, much less read it. What you had there was called objective journalism. Your more biased reporters may have had difficulty understanding it, and Fournier certainly needs a refresher course, but I liked actual facts. It's okay though. As long as our nation has Karl Rove the people needn't bother with the details of our government and our nation. Wait, it's definitely because of Rove that we need to.
Meanwhile, back in the real world where bad things happen, Bush has yet to completely reverse women's rights, but he's still trying. El Presidente wants anti-abortion and anti-contraception wackos to be protected from discrimination in the workplace, regardless of whether or not their beliefs affect their job performance. Remember how you ladies can take the pill and not be forced to have babies? Hold onto the memory. Did I miss a memo? Do babies contain oil?
Now for a moment of reflection on Obama's speech today...
Voters are evenly divided on the Iraq issue, by every estimation. Barry needs to be President of the United States. Can somebody in his campaign please attack on the economy, and, like, never stop? I believe moderates on the right and centrists eat, use electricity and drive cars, and that means a lot of them have to be hurting like everybody else. What don't they seem to care about? Iraq. Obama has very clearly defined his position on the war. It might be good to hit McWorse where he doesn't stand any chance at all, which is on everything but Iraq.
These are just the words of a guy with a keyboard.
