So there's this big story over there about Bush going to a golf fundraiser.
I'm just not sure how anyone got out of it that it is the CURRENT President Bush going to the fundraiser.
let's examine the stories:
Tee Off With Bush 41 For McCain
Alongside a large photo of George H.W. Bush, this is the quote that everyone is pointing to:
If you’re a high-flying Republican, and you can afford to take next Monday off to fly to Maine, have we got a treat for you.
On that day, former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush are hosting a high-dollar fundraiser for John McCain near their home in Kennebunkport.
According to a solicitation sent by the McCain camp, for the low, low price of $5,000, you can play a round of golf at Cape Arundel Golf Course, Bush’s home course.
"Both President Bush and Governor Jeb Bush will be stopping by to greet the foursomes," the missive promises. "The course is reserved for this private group, and VIPs will be visiting during your round of golf. This event is a great way to end a weekend getaway, and we would be honored if you can attend."
Um, George's dad was President too!
Let's see some more stories on this:
John McCain to host fundraising events in Maine
John McCain is coming to Maine.
According to McCain’s campaign Web site, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate will be in Kennebunkport next Monday for a series of fundraising events.
First on the agenda is a $2,300-per-person reception and photo opportunity with McCain and former President George H.W. Bush at Bush’s Walker Point compound in Kennebunkport.
Contributors can also play a round of golf at the Cape Arundel Golf Course for $5,000, but the Web site doesn’t say if McCain will be playing.
Nothing about Dubya.

Sen. McCain will co-host an event with the less controversial Bush July 21 when he heads up to Kennebunkport, ME for a fundraiser with Bush 41 and his wife Barbara at the Walker’s Point Resort.
It will cost donors $2,300 for entry to the VIP reception and a photo opportunity
The last time McCain appeared with the former President was February 18, when Bush the elder endorsed the presumptive GOP nominee in Houston.
Zippo about Dubya.
McCain in South Portland on Monday
At 11:30 Monday, McCain will be in Kennebunkport for a fundraiser. For $2,300, donors can visit the Bush family compound for a VIP reception and photo opportunity. For $1,000, donors can attend a private reception and for $500 they can attend a general reception, both to be held at the Nonantum Resort.
The Host Committee includes: President and Mrs. George H.W. Bush, Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, and former Gov. John McKernan.
Nada.
I'd advise the editors at Daily Kos, ThinkProgress, and HuffPo to do a bit of factchecking....are you SURE this is the story?
