This focus on the number of stories written about each candidate ignores that many of the stories written about Obama were written with malice aforethought!
When the Rev. Wright stories proliferated on the TV, the 'Net and on cable, there were few people trying to skew the coverage into a more positive direction for Sen. Obama. On the contrary, the media ran with each rumor.
When the 'bitter' comments were the topic du jour and story after story ran about Sen. Obama's supposed difficulties with rural, white Americans there was no concern about whether he was getting too much attention. No, the media piled on.
It becomes apparent that those who wish to tilt the truth to hurt Sen. Obama will use any extreme method. If Sen. Obama forgot to wash his hands before eating he'd be called a slob. If he washes his hands too long he'd be called elite.
Speaking of elite, could you imagine how much more press he (and his family) would get if his wife owned an organization that lobbies against MADD or if she stole narcotic drugs from her own charity FOR HER OWN USE, was caught and had her punishment limited to restitution with no disclosure of her illegal acts. How elite would Michelle Obama be considered if she had done these things and then said that,"The only way to get around Arizona is by small, private plane"?
Mrs. McCain's wikipedia entry
It is astonishing that the media now count the number of stories written about each candidate to see if one or the other has a numerical advantage. The advantage lies not in the number of words but in their meaning.
the msnbc story
I think Sen. McCain and Mrs. McCain DO need more media attention. I just wish it would be accurate.
