When H R 3221 reached the House floor yesterday, only 45 Republicans voted for the measure.
Even "Emperor Dubya" had backed down so the legislation would not face a veto fight if passed.
Is the legislation the end all, be all for financially trouble homeowners? The answer is no, but then what bill has ever been passed that was perfect? It is a start, and that is the best forward looking people can hope for.
Just where did the VA-05 incumbent Virgil H. Goode Jr., stand? According to the Library of Congress (Roll Call vote 519), he voted no. So much for standing with hurting American families.
The bill also provides for a bailout of mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae should that be needed, but also provides a control on these companies executives pay.
Just what did the Republicans object too? Oversight.
