An interesting moment occurred a few weeks ago in my family.
My mother--at the age of 86--was a classic HRC supporter. She never dreamed that a woman would be so close to being the nominee of a major party for president in her lifetime.
She watched every TV show regarding politics. She loved HRC.
ANd after Hillary conceded and endorsed BO, she even thought briefly whether to go to the McCain side.
But then something happened--something mysterious and exciting...
He anger subsided.
She acknowledged that HRC basically ran a horrible campaign--that Obama ran a magnificent campaign--and that in the end, the Clinton era was over.
Still--for a while--she did not know where she would cast her vote this Fall.
Bt she is a very spiritual woman. She prayed. She asked God for guidance.
She had some bitterness towards the Obama campaign. Like many other HRC supporters, there was residual bitterness--that must subside before she could make a rational decision.
My mom prays two rosaries a day.
A few weeks ago--it came to her.
Her heart opened up to Obama.
Now--she reads everything she can about our next President of the United States.
It is fun watching her while she watches TV as she rails against people who lash out at BO the same way she used to rail against people who lashed out at her beloved Hillary.
She was moved during prayer one day. The devoutly spiritual describe the change that can occur during prayer.
She now sees Obama as the next JFK.
She loves him.
SHe is inspired by him.
You would never know that a few weeks ago, she watched Hillary concede with her own eyes being swollen by tears.
My mom doesn't use the internet. On her behalf, I am writing this short journal to describe one woman's journey from Hillary to Obama.
I have seen her become a fierce supporter now. She burns up the telephone lines, reaching out to friends and relatives who are former HRC supporters who are toying with the idea of voting for McCain.
On a personal note to mom--I am so proud of you, mom. I prayed you would come to this conclusion. It looks like both of our prayers have been answered.
We are proud to be a part of the family of Obama supporters. We ask all supporters of HRC to please step forward.
We believe in the words of John Kennedy--
Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country.
In 2008--what can you do for your country?
First--elect BO.
If an 86 year old woman who loves HRC can do this--you can too.
Thanks, mom--I've never been prouder of you...
