For the past few weeks I have observed the media's response to Senator Obama's successful world tour.
Before the tour, it delineated the perils of potential gaffs. Now when he makes no mistakes, he is accused of being presumptuous. When black professionals hear this, we translate this as uppity negro. All politicians have huge egos- especially the ones that run for president. Obama is no different. But first they were saying that people had to imagine him being president and McCain was saying he had to go overseas. Now that he was successful and presidential, and has shown confidence, they are now calling him an uppity negro. Black professionals have to deal with this shit all of the time.
