Actually, Obama is doing pretty well and has a good chance so far of getting the Presidency on his own merits. One thing however would be a knock out and is the low road that needs to be taken to insure a blowout. We need to brand McCain as unstable and insane. After several prominent Republicans stated that he was just that people pondered whether we would see the McCain temper so storied and retold. The media made small efforts towards provoking this temper with the goal of getting a meltdown on film, but then they seem to have backed off.
A few scenarios after the fold...
Ads could merely put John McCain on record for the things he has said. We need to see him say that he doesn't understand economics. We need to replay him saying "bomb bomb bomb Iran" and juxtapose it with the atomic bomb. We need every clip there is of him getting upset about something taken out of context. We need to research what sets him off and practice provoking him. We need more of the great contradictions side by side. The key word though is unstable.
Ideally this would culminate in John hearing his cue from Obama at a town hall or debate and going down swinging in a pile of secret service agents. They are tough, though. They can handle him. Then prosecute. Attempt to have a determination of McCain's sanity in court, and the race is over regardless of the outcome.
Many here seem to feel that we should take the high road and leave the ugly stuff to the Republicans. It is after all one of the things that makes them ugly. The fact is that John McCain's sanity is an issue in this election and we need to bring that out before getting into another close election that can be stolen, or turn on a negative volley from the right.
I had a diary during the Republican selection process that posited that McCain was the least repulsive Republican candidate. This seemed to be true. I still think it was, and we will still not have trouble defeating him in November. An interesting phenomenon was that the diary got so many views by republicans that google started putting their ads on the page.
