I heard this question on the radio the other day, and thought McCain was going into brain freeze mode again. The questioner asked, "What are your plans for your first 90 days in office?"
Long pause
Then McCain's response, which was basically,
"The first thing I'll do is call Tom Ridge" (!!!)
Clearly the man has given the question a lot of thought!
The actual transcript of the exchange is below, along with the clip from a town hall meeting on Monday. Can you imagine any other politician (who thought he or she had a real shot at being elected) not having some kind of answer prepared for this question? But the best McCain can come up with is to call the former (and first) head of Homeland Security?
Perhaps this "slip" is a strong clue to his actual choice for VP...
Tom Ridge as VP?
QUESTIONER: . . . what are your plans for your first ninety days in office?
JOHN MCCAIN: Um, to call Tom Ridge to Washington from whatever vacation he is taking and get him down there and get him to work.
