The doddering idiot "maverick" who's America's American patriot and philanderer, our most trustworthy "rebel" who votes with dubya 100 percent of the time--when he bothers to hobble in to the Senate--and who can't remember what his bold and innovative positions are unless he consults his index cards or his lobbyists, is actually taking a STAND on something. He has decided that he is strongly anti-choice and against the historic women's rights decision called Roe v Wade.
The moronic mysogynist who has called his trophy wife a "cunt" and a "trollop" in front of fawning reporters has finally decided that he is in favor of making abortion illegal. McLame has determined that women should not have control over their own bodies. It is rational to assume, therefore, that he would be in favor of jailing women who decided to terminate a pregnancy--if his backward and wrongheaded view of the world ever came to "fruition." Good idea, huh? Let's build even more jails so we can lock up young women who are so unfortunate as to get pregnant without wanting to. Seems like we might want to torture them a little bit, too. Just for good measure. Hell, just burn 'em at the fuckin stake. They're probably witches, anyway. Trollops.
Abortion is a complex and nuanced issue. Like most of the big issues of our day, the answer to the problem it presents doesn't lend itself to one-liners or "talking points." The best answer I've been able to come up with is summarized by saying that "human" life doesn't begin until around the beginning of the 3rd trimester of pregnancy--when the neocortex (higher brain) starts to develop. It is at this point that what we would recognize as traits of a living human being are being developed. After the beginning of the growth of the neocortex, abortion should be harder to obtain, and more rarely practiced medically. Just my view. I'm certain I could learn more on this issue. I think Bill Clinton had a good goal for female reproductive health issues. He said, "Abortion should be safe, legal, and rare." Wise words.
One thing is certain. Stem cells and regenerative medicine are the hot spots in medical research these days, and the same old dickheads that are opposing a woman's right to choose are also opposing research into stem cells. This science has the potential to cure diseases as varied as spinal cord injury to Alzheimers's to Parkinson's to diabetes. Maybe even cancer.
Why is it that these ancient assholes, nearly all men, are so concerned about life before it's born, but so cavalierly dismissive of life after it's born? Over 4000 American deaths in Iraq, for example. Countless Iraqi civilians killed. Right to life? Not for those whose lives were wasted in that massive crime. Yet McBush supports the war in Iraq and wants "other" wars, too. The bizzaro world these people inhabit is so far from the world I want to live in that it seems daunting, at times. But then I remember that there is an external reality that doesn't give a shit what I think or what John McInsane thinks or what my dearly departed mother ever thought. Reality just is. It goes on its merry way, and once in a while, when we're not looking, it reaches up and slaps the shit out of us.
