In comments to a recent diary I posted, I was asked to suggest resources on election protection and related matters. I've poked around a little and found the following. Although in my quick review I didn't see what I'm looking for (groups organizing to be prepared for legal challenges on election day to keep polls open, require additional machines when lines are too long, or getting folks the right to vote non-provisional ballots), I think these are a good place to start. And maybe they are doing what I'm hoping and I just didn't find it. Anyway, see below for some of what I've found.

Protectmyvote.org has phone numbers and websites for information on voting in each states:
http://protectmyvote.org/
Workingfordemocracy.org, a campaign of People for the American Way, has what they describe as "voter's ID toolkits", for those states that have imposed voter ID requirements:
http://www.workingfordemocracy.org/
A report on what happened in the primaries, and what to expect during the general:
http://www.lawyerscomm.org/...
And a website, referenced by NYU's Brennan Center, which provides opportunities for lawyers, paralegals and law students to volunteer:
The National Campaign for Fair Elections (I've linked the volunteer form):
http://www.nationalcampaignforfairel...
The Obama website has the following page with suggestions and contact information, but I think this may be an individual poster rather than the campaign:
http://my.barackobama.com/...
The New York Demnocratic Lawyers Council, which is seeking volunteers both for New York and out of state (I've linked the volunteer form):
http://www.nydlc.org/...
And for those who believe election protection should not be limited to the voting booth, there's even an election protection site about...oh, never mind. You'll have to find that on your own.
