Whenever John McCain's character or judgment are questioned, his campaign gets indignant that anyone could question McCain after his years as a POW. I call it playing the POW card.
Wouldn't it be great if the Obama campaign came out and said,
"Yes, John McCain was a hero 40 years ago, but that doesn't excuse his poor judgment and lack of leadership over the last 35 years. He says that he doesn't like to talk about his days as a POW, but he brings it up all the time, and even uses it in his advertising. But being a POW is no excuse for his inflammatory rhetoric on foreign policy or his miserable voting record on the economy, energy, and supporting our veterans. It's time for John McCain to stop playing the POW card and start explaining how he can vote with President Bush 90 percent of the time and call himself a maverick. The American people expect straight talk from John McCain, not a bunch of card tricks."
I'd like to see "playing the POW card" become as hot a potato as "playing the race card."
