So, a little poll from Zogby comes out and lots of people are in freakout mode, and Kos has front-paged about how silly that is.
Good.
Let me add one little bit o' info to the fire for each of you to chew on...
Anybody here remember 1992?
Of course, everybody remembers that's when the nation elected Bill Clinton. (Note: I know there is going to be talk about the "Perot effect" on the election in '92. I get it. But this is to make a different point.)
Does anybody remember where Bill Clinton was just prior to the Democratic Convention? Before he picked Al Gore as his running mate?
Take a look below:
The '92 convention was in mid-July. Funny how Clinton's numbers spiked after that convention and after Perot got out of the race (only to get back in it later).
Funny how Clinton never relinquished that lead in the polls.
Funny how Clinton won over 300+ electoral votes that year.
Funny how Clinton, running against an unpopular President, in a down economy, couldn't crack the barrier until the Democratic convention was over.
Funny how that Clinton team back then didn't panic and pursued their strategy with a singular purpose, sorta like that guy running for President on the Democratic side now.
Funny, all of that.
No, now is not the time to panic. Plenty of time for that later if, say in late September, Obama doesn't maintain his lead.
Now is the time to commit to working on the ground. To get out every vote. To knock on the doors and make the calls.
And to make these new "worrisome" polls history...
just like 1992.
