After Hillary's speech and the negative poll bounce after Biden's selection, I expect many in the party are secretly thinking that the REAL unity ticket is Obama-Clinton.
Wiki notes the following:
"The highlight of the 1956 Democratic Convention came when Adlai Stevenson, in an effort to create excitement for the ticket, made the surprise announcement that the convention's delegates would choose his running mate."
Might something similar happen here? It could not originate from Obama as in 1956, I think Joe Biden would have to suggest it himself. Obama clearly can't be pulling the rug out from under his friend- besides being unfair, it would make him look indecisive.
But what if Obama and Hillary supporters at the convention went to Biden and he agreed with them that Hillary was the best choice and that the convention should vote for her? Think of the excitement that would result if Biden took the floor and thanked Obama for nominating him but told the crowd that he saw the next VP speaking before the convention on Tuesday night. It would be electric.
Maybe I'm just dreaming, but I wish something like this could happen.
