This is an amusing quirk of John McCain that was originally reported in a Washington Post profile of him several months ago. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more attention.
You can tell whether McCain is grouchy or not by whether he says "my friends" or "my friend."
When he says "my friends", he's being friendly. When he says "my friend", he is angry or irritated.
Seriously. It's like he's a character in a Christopher Guest movie.
For example, take this video from another Kos diary of McCain snapping at a group of middle class laborers. Guess what he says at the end?
I don't have an example handy of him saying "my friends." Just type in [+McCain +war +"my friends"] in teh Google if you want an example.
Post other own examples if you want, my friends.
Update:Here is the WP articlethis tidbit is from. It is in the second paragraph.
