Just now, moments before Obama's big speech, Faux News showed clips of Reverend Wright "Damn America" video clip.
While flipping between CNN and MSNBC just now in anticipation of Obama's speech, I decided to take a quick look at Faux New's Democratic Convention coverage and was met by a full screen image of Rev. Wright doing his God damn America speech. The context was a "re-wind" of the major events marking Obama's path to tonight and Faux made sure that the clip of Rev. Wright had him uttering the entire "Not God Bless America but God damn America!" line.
We shouldn't be surprised at this type of Faux-style antic but it is still unsettling that a supposed mainstream news outlet would so blatantly seek to frame tonight's historic event in such a partisan and divisive fashion. It is no mistake that Faux pointedly calls their coverage tonight "America's Election HQ" in obvious disdain of the Democratic party while CNN and MSNBC uses the generic "Democratic National Convention".
We need a fundamental change in the tone of discourse in this country. May the next eight years under President Obama usher in the changes that our nation so desperately needs.
GO OBAMA!
