When James Dobson and his followers prayed for rain on the night of Obama's acceptance speech, who'd have thought that it would be the Republicans fearing the wrath of God in Hurricane Gustav?
The question is, who's side is God on? The current weather forecast is predicting something that only mother nature can deliver and now the Republican party is nervous as hell. Their entire convention is under threat of being upstaged by Hurricane Gustav. These are signs of Biblical proportions.
The Repubs act as if they have a direct line to the kingdom of God and that the rest of us progressives are in need of salvation. They are the messengers of hate and deceit who swear on the Bible and perpetrate trickery in the same breath. I can't for the life of me figure out why some people are so blind as to follow the likes of James Dobson. These filthy rich evangelical leaders who use their version of christianity to divide the citizens of this country by spewing hateful rhetoric and untruths to suit their agenda, have done more than their share of harm to my faith. Who's God is it?
Our beautiful country wouldn't be so divided if the far right christian extremists hadn't hijacked Washington. The likes of Pastor Rick Warren and Dr. Dobson who pretend to be more divine than the rest of us, all the while hiding behind their devious agenda to drive voters to the Republican party, are what's wrong with this country.
These are greedy businessmen who thrive on using religion as a crux to enrich themselves. Granted, making money is part of our way of life in this country. However, these leaders will stop at nothing when it comes to hampering a sound evolution, and will use the MSM as their tool to distort the message for their blind flock.
They are fearful of the aftermath of an Obama presidency. Why because they may have to pay their fair share in taxes. Revenues that will be used to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and do more to pay down our debt to the Chinese. What's so wrong with giving a little something back to the Nation that enriches your pockets? Isn't that being patriotic?
The question facing every American regardless of their religious orientation is - will we seize this opportunity to do what's right for our beloved country? The religious right's indifference to facts, coupled with their blind ambitions, fuels the message that corrupts the sanity of the forces of the status quo. This is why their prayers have backfired on them. Those who blaspheme in the hopes to deceive mankind in order to alter what is indeed God's will, are themselves the enemy of evolution.
While I pray for Gustavo to become nothing more than a tropical storm that fades into the mighty ocean without causing havoc to the innocent citizens on our Gulf coast, I can't help but feel the wrath of God slowly but surely creeping into the fray to make a powerful point. As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for, especially if your wish is a prayer asking the good Lord to ruin your neighbor's big day. Because chances are, your wish may just come and bite you in the you know what.
And by the way, Dr. Dobson, the weather in Denver yesterday was sunny, with a heavenly breeze blowing softly across a serene and joyful setting where the faithful had gathered in a peaceful celebration of an historic moment in time.
