Recently, the press has weaved the story that Obama is too arrogant and thinks he is the greatest thing since slice white bread. His ego is getting to be too big. Has Obama let his success go to his head and is starting to believe his own press? Is he really or is presumptuous the new uppity black man?
Our parents have always told us growing up that if we studied hard and work hard, we too could get a chair at the table where the white man sit and eat. Only a few of us have been able to truly achieve this level of success.
For the first time in the history of the United States we have a black man that have actually achieved that level of success and he did it by doing exactly what our parents have always told us to do; Study hard. Although he plays basketball, he does not have exceptional athletic ability so having multimillion dollar contract is out of the question. As far as I know he cannot hold a note therefore, he cannot be a singer or rapper. So he does what he knows best which is politics and he is going after the ultimate job: President of the United States.
The problem many have with Obama is that he is not humble enough. He seems to forget where he came from. How dare he run for the White House? It is called the White House for a reason. All the words about arrogance are codes for saying that Obama is acting too much like a successful white man. Does he not know that a black man no matter how successful should never, ever become too confident in his abilities? After all he has achieved that level of success because some white person somewhere has let him do it. This is why Obama cannot relate to Middle America; although he comes from Middle America.
Obama has forgotten to do the shuffle after his speeches so now being articulate and confident becomes arrogant. After a successful world trip most politicians would be enjoying their success and pointing out the fact that most of the world views them as the best hope for America. Not Obama; Even when he tries to be humble, his words are twisted. Obama must never forget where he comes from and if he does, I am sure that many in the press will be but too happy to remind him that no matter how much you climb, a black man must always remember to do a little dance. He has to walk the fine line between angry black man and uppity black man.
