We are all trying to come up with a comparison to use for McCain's VP selection of a totally unqualified right wing extremist governor. Is it really that hard?
Let's see, Governor Palin:
On Iraq:
Alaska Business Monthly: We've lost a lot of Alaska's military members to the war in Iraq. How do you feel about sending more troops into battle, as President Bush is suggesting?
Palin: I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq. I heard on the news about the new deployments, and while I support our president, Condoleezza Rice and the administration, I want to know that we have an exit plan in place; I want assurances that we are doing all we can to keep our troops safe. Every life lost is such a tragedy. I am very, very proud of the troops we have in Alaska, those fighting overseas for our freedoms, and the families here who are making so many sacrifices.
Her coziness with oil companies:
According to the Anchorage Daily News, 10% of her campaign funding in her failed 2002 Lieutenant Governor's Bid came from oil companies.
She wants drilling in ANWAR.
On Government Spending:
Palin, who portrays herself as a fiscal conservative, racked up nearly $20 million in long-term debt as mayor of the tiny town of Wasilla — that amounts to $3,000 per resident. She argues that the debt was needed to fund improvements.
The Environment
As Governor, Palin vetoed wind power and clean coal projects, including a 50-megawatt wind farm on Fire Island.
Science
She's not a big fan. Maybe we should teach a belief in class instead. http://scienceblogs.com/...
Global warming, she doesn't think so. http://www.adn.com/...
And, of course, Cronyism
Josh Marshall, doing his usual good work, is starting to piece together the details of TrooperGate. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/...
Which she learned from the last generation.
So, she is a pro-life, cultural conservative, anti-science governor, who doesn't know or care much about foreign affairs and purports to believe in small government but runs up huge deficits. Who could we possibly compare her to...
