It’s been a rather stress-filled week and even more stress-filled weekend, my fellow Kossacks. I’m coming off a 7-hour drive from extreme southern Illinois, only to have my older dog land in the emergency room this morning with a sprained shoulder. So it was a considerable relief to sit down at a local restaurant with a bowl of rabbit food topped by the omnipresent boneless, skinless chicken breast and the local newspaper. Imagine my surprise when my eyes cast upon a fabulous op-ed piece, penned by a resident of St. Charles, Illinois. It carried the refreshing title: Hillary Supporters Aren’t Bitter; They’re Concerned. In her opinion, she states that although she was angry that Hillary wasn’t on the ticket, she would vote for McCain for different reasons.
I read the piece, and you know what? She’s absolutely right. Her reasoning is impeccable. Think I’m kidding? Cross over, children! Cross with me now, over the fold, into the light.
I may not agree with some of his positions, but I can take him at his word
This is the essence of her article, full text here:

I couldn’t agree more. John McCain does mean what he says.

All I can say is, Kay, honey, we’ll miss you when you’re gone.
What? Oh, I’m sorry, my bad. You see when you suggested that you much admired John McCain’s "truthiness", I assumed you’d be enlisting.
No? Too old, you say. Well, that’s a shame. Your photograph is so flattering.
Well, then how ‘bout that fine son and/or daughter of yours? Surely, they’ll want to emulate McCain’s splendid example of national service. After all, as you state:
And finally, I will be voting for John McCain because of his service to America. Those of us who lived through the Vietnam era—even those of us who vehemently opposed the war—aren't as quick to dismiss McCain as Mr. Biden was last Saturday.
Oh, but wait. Perhaps there’s no need to rush down to the AAFES just yet:

You’re absolutely right, Ms. Catlin. John McCain can be taken at his word. And if you sit on your hands and stay home come November, or decide to trust in McCain’s experience and maverickiness . . . you will get exactly what you deserve.
