So you already know that three of the most powerful American Republicans have canceled their appearances at the Republican Convention:
Bush and Cheney are focusing on Hurricane Gustav, which is rapidly approaching the Gulf Coast. Schwarzenegger is staying home to deal with a standoff with California legislators over the state budget. All three had been scheduled to speak Monday night at the convention.
This is the Republican convention. Are any Republicans going to show up? I can assure you that Lieberman isn't going to cancel.
And now, there's this, from the Associated Press:
"I pledge that tomorrow night, and if necessary throughout our convention, we will act as Americans, not as Republicans," McCain told reporters.
Well, it's settled then. This isn't going to be the Republican Convention. It's going to be "The American Convention." You just wait. Fox News is going to make up logos and everything.
Of course, we all know what this is really all about.
