This diary is for:
- Pseudo-political strategists on DailyKos who have been giving Obama plenty of advice lately about what he needs to do to win.
- Paranoid Kossacks who are wringing their hands, afraid to lose again, and don’t think Obama is fighting McCain aggressively enough.
- Fed up people, like me, who are tired of the arm-chair quarterbacks who have taken over DailyKos lately
Apparently, some of you have forgotten how tough our leader, Barack Obama, is. Apparently, some of you have forgotten how Obama came to be our nominee, and not the heavily-favored, inevitable Hillary Clinton. Apparently, some of you have forgotten how Hillary threw the kitchen sink at Obama month after month after month and all she got for it was her dashed presidential hopes.
Some of you have forgotten that Barack Obama can fight. I mean, really fight!
I would like to refresh your memories with a few brief videos.
After a debate, where Obama correctly said that he is willing to negotiate with dictators, Hillary lunged at him. She called him naive and irresponsible. It was her hardest attack yet.
But, Obama didn't shrink. He gave her all she wanted. Here was his response.
Bush/Cheney-light? Zing! That, my friends, is not a WIMP! That is not John Kerry! That is not Mike Dukakis! That is a tough guy who can fight! So, shove those comparisons up your a**!
Sorry. But that felt good to say after the last few days.
And, what about this response to the bitter controversy:
But, Obama doesn't always fight fire with fire. Sometimes, he fights back with humor. Let's see Barack snap right back at Hillary in the Iowa debate:
This guy doesn't flinch!
And what about the time Bill Clinton & Hillary Clinton tried to make it seem like Democrats could have both Hillary and Obama, if only they vote for Hillary. Obama let 'em have it:
But my favorite moment, so far, was this exchange with John McCain. Obama said he would go back into Iraq, if necessary, to go after Al Qaeda. McCain tried to go after Obama over that comment and Obama let him have it! Look:
He shoved it right down his throat. Respectful. Intellectual. Effective.
Of course, Barack doesn’t always fight, because sometimes it’s not the right time. Sometimes it’s not the right place. Sometimes, your strategy calls for you to not respond. Sometimes your strategy requires you to simply.......dust off your shoulders.
So, for all you hand-wringers, all you nervous little buggers, all you panic-y, jumpy, emotionally-unstable little creatures:
Barack Obama didn’t beat Hillary by being Dukakis. Or John Kerry. There’s a reason Obama won his party’s nomination......This guy knows how to fight!
