Despite years of voting against raises in the minimum wage and years of voting against worker's rights to organize unions John McCain struck a chord with some employees of an Ohio company recently. Seeking a way to make Obama look silly McCain decided to use tire gauges to mock the Democrat as part of the "it's the Democrats fault gas prices are high" campaign.
McCain needed tire gauges and he need them fast. His campaign approached "Tire Gauges 'r Us" (TGU) of Ohio with an order for 1 million. Knowing that TGU could only produce 10,000 at a time McCain's campaign promised that he would visit the factory if they could make the order in a week, other promises were made according to a source close to the story. Inspired the workers of TGU labored long and hard to produce 975,000 by the deadline.
A smiling TGU President delivered the gauges to a campaign representative this past Thursday. "We didn't make the goal, but we're damn close," said TGU's Les Enmore.
"We appreciate the effort," said the campaign spokesman.
"Where's McCain?" came a cry from a worker who was quickly hustled off.
Ignoring the outburst he went on to say, "You all should be honored to work for a company like TGU."
"Where's our bonus?" screamed another.
"Strike!" yelled someone else as he and another group of protesting workers were removed from the area.
"We're just happy to help out a great American," said Enmore. "His efforts to help small business and the workers of Ohio won't go unrewarded, in fact we'll be having a job fair next week."
Asked if he had been contacted by the Obama campaign Enmore shook his head as he responded, "No, Senator Obama uses digital gauges."
