Yesterday, Mitt 'I'd-like-to-double-Guantanamo' Romney officially endorsed Jason Chaffetz. Chaffets defeated Chris Cannon in Utah's 3rd district Republican primary on an anti-immigration platform. He advocates rounding up illegals and putting them in tent cities.
As conservative as Utah may be, the LDS majority there have always treated immigrants with respect and kindness. However, we are now seeing the right-wing radicals moving to take the seat. Cannon had supported Bush's plan to naturalize illegal immigrants. The turnout in the primary was a whopping 6%.
Chaffetz also called global warming 'a farce' at the Utah state convention and was one of six GOP candidates to recently fly to ANWR to call for drilling.
Bennion Spencer, the Democratic candidate in district 3, was recently endorsed by the AFL-CIO and is running hard to turn the district blue. Please go to BennionSpencerForCongress and contribute $10 to his ActBlue account and help keep the far right-wingers like Chaffetz out of Congress.
