There were news reports yesterday that Obama was holding the full force of his pushback, counterpunch against McCain until after September 11th. Even though John McCain broke his promise not to run any negative ads that day. Well, today is September 12th, and the counterpunch has begun, just like Plouffe promised today. Today he has a rally in Concord, NH (which I couldn't get tickets for :( ) and tomorrow, an event in Manchester.
Not only that, but the counterpunch in the ad game begins now. For those that argue Obama hasn't been fighting the ad war, I hope this is the new start.
Follow me over the fold.
The first ad is titled "Still 1982" and it hits McCain for being out of touch with Normal Americans, partially being an attack on his age.
TRANSCRIPTION:
"1982, John McCain goes to Washington. Things have changed in the last 27 years. But McCain hasn't. He admit he doesn't know how to use a computer...cant send an email, Still doesn't understand the economy, and favors 200 billion tax cuts for corporations, but almost noting for for the Middle Class. After one president who was out of touch, we just cant afford More of the same.
According to HuffPo, the 1982 ad is not airing, unlike the following "Real Change" ad, 1982 is meant to catch the media's attention and to be a web ad.
The Second ad is titled "Real Change," is a sort of retail-politics ad, with Obama sitting down to the camera, explaining what he things change is:
Hold on, looking for a video for this...brightcove player not working...you can see it here
Here we go:
TRANSCRIPTION:
"We've heard a lot of talk about change this election. The question is..change to what? To me, change is a government that doesn't let banks and oil companies rip off the American people. Change is when we finally fix healthcare, instead of just talking about it. Change is giving tax breaks to middle class families, instead of companies that send jobs overseas. Change is a president who brings people together. I'm Barack Obama, and I approve this message, because this year, change has to be more than a slogan."
Also, Planned Parenthood is out today with an ad attacking McCain for his deceitful ad.
TRANSCRIPT:
"Every eight minutes a child is sexually abused," the narrator says. "That's why Barack Obama supported legislation to teach children how to protect themselves. Now John McCain is twisting the facts and attacking Senator Obama. Doesn't McCain want our children to protect ourselves from sex offenders? Or after 26 years in Washington, is he just another politician who will say anything to get elected?"
UPDATE:
Here's another 527 ad from the "Wildlife Action Fund"
