Jim Inhofe set his attack machine into motion this week, and Andrew Rice went on the air to rebut the false and misleading allegations against him. Our latest ad is below:
Inhofe isn’t just misleading on Sen. Rice’s record – he’s distorting his own record, as well.
More below the fold.
This week, as Sen. Rice traveled the state to discuss his national security plan and his support for veterans, Jim Inhofe’s campaign was busy attacking, smearing, and misleading. When they weren’t distorting Sen. Rice’s record, they were touting Inhofe’s voting record on the troops – claiming that he’s been "supporting our men and women in uniform and helping them have the resources they need to be successful in the war on terror":
However, Inhofe hasn’t put his votes where his mouth is. Inhofe has voted consistently against improved safety equipment for our troops, against critical repairs for military equipment, and against measures to keep our own nation more secure. He even voted against implementing recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. Geri Prado, our campaign manager, adds:
"Jim Inhofe claims conditions are improving in Afghanistan, but experts find violence and instability to be increasing in the area[...] Ignoring experts, commissions and voting against the best interests of national security is bad leadership and flat out reckless."
And even though his record on national security and taking care of our troops is atrocious, Jim Inhofe believes he’s the only one who is able to assess the combat situation in the Middle East. In 2006, he declared:
"I am the only member of the Senate that is in a position to evaluate the changes that take place when a major event occurs," the Oklahoma Republican said.
After 22 years in Washington and a lifetime in politics, it seems as though Jim Inhofe has ceased to care whether his rhetoric matches his record – or whether his attacks match the facts. He’s ceased to care what people think – even the people he’s supposed to represent.
Come November 4th, though, Jim Inhofe will finally have to pay attention to what the voters say when he’s defeated by Andrew Rice.
