John McCain's recent antics got me to really thinking about who the hell he is. I sort of did buy into the description of him being a war hero and a pretty decent guy; but on the wrong side of the political fence. I was wrong. The wheels fell off the straight talk express years ago!
The so called maverick has shown that he's really a shameless shapeshifter. Can you believe he really made am issue out of lipstick? I mean really! Trying to present himself as the steward of women's issues! Give me a break. Take a look at his humor and you tell me he gives one rats ass about being respectful to women or anybody else for that matter. (...and no I am not call him a rat or an ass...lest he open up the faucet of crocodile tears again.) Good Lord, who'd know our war hero is so sensitive. I digress.
Check out his neanderthal humor and his shapeshifting on policies ranging from taxes to torture below.
Why does John McCain make such cruel jokes about children, women, older people, rape, disease and suffering, torture and the like? Whatever, the reason.....his character is clearly showing in plain view!
Men show their characters in nothing more clearly than in what they think laughable. Johann Wolfgang von
Goethe
McCain's humor often backfires

He wants us to believe he's a supporter of women and lipstick talk upsets him?!
-
"Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, 'Where is that marvelous ape?'"
He wants us to believe he respects Hillary and shocked and offended if the media talks about cadidates families!?
-
"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?" he asked guests at a Senate Republican fundraiser. "Because her father is Janet Reno."
There's more and it ain't pretty.
'The nice thing about Alzheimer's is you get to hide your own Easter eggs.'"
-The French remind me a little bit of an aging actress of the 1940s who is still trying to dine out on her looks but doesn't have the face for it,"
-"And I stopped beating my wife just a couple of weeks ago," provoking a round of tut-tutting for his reference to the old classic example of a leading question.
-Another favorite has been the elderly. He has recalled groveling for forgiveness when, during his 1986 campaign, he referred to a retirement community called "Leisure World" as "Seizure World."
-In 1999, in the course of apologizing for his joke about Clinton — which he called "insensitive and stupid and cruel" he recalled for reporters another bad joke: 'I said, The nice thing about Alzheimer's is you get to hide your own Easter eggs.'"
-He has jokingly threatened staffers with waterboarding....
-McCain was also recently condemned by the government of Iran for suggesting that increasing U.S. cigarette sales to Iran could be "a way of killing 'em."
So it appears that John McCain has run around for years apologizing for nasty jokes he apparently can't stop himself from blurting out. If he was really remorseful; you'd think he could get himself under control. So which is it? Did he fake his remorse or he can't control himself. Or both? The possibiliteies suggest he really does lack the appropriate temperment to be commander and chief.
MCCAIN POLICY FLIPFLOPS ARE WORSE THAN HIS JOKES!
Abraham Lincoln:
How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four; calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg.
Disturbingly, McCain's host of policy flipflops appear to be devoid of thoughtful analysis related to issues rather thoughtful calculations to advance his amibitions.
John McCain himself has said he's sacrificed principle for personal ambtion. His swinging principles are evidenced below.
For instance he was against removing the confederate flag in South Carolina before her was for it.
http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/04/19/mccain.sc/
COLUMBIA, South Carolina (CNN) -- Former GOP presidential candidate John McCain called for the removal of the Confederate battle flag from atop the South Carolina Statehouse on Wednesday, acknowledging that his refusal to take such a stance during his primary battle for the Palmetto State was a "sacrifice of principle for personal ambition."
Sen. John McCain returned to South Carolina on Wednesday and called for the removal of the Confederate battle flag from the Statehouse.
He was against Martin Luther King day before he was for it.

"We can be slow as well to give greatness its due, a mistake I made myself long ago when I voted against a federal holiday in memory of Dr. King," Sen. John McCain said in a speech in Memphis. "I was wrong and eventually realized that..... We can all be a little late sometimes in doing the right thing.....
He was against repealing Roe vs. Wade before he was for it.
http://www.motherjones.com/mojoblog/archives/2006/11/2974_john_mccain_and.html
McCain told the San Francisco Chronicle this:
I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade, which would then force X number of women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations.
McCain yesterday on ABC:
I do believe that it’s very likely or possible that the Supreme Court should — could overturn Roe v. Wade, which would then return these decisions to the states, which I support... I don’t believe the Supreme Court should be legislating in the way that they did on Roe v. Wade.
He wasn't too jiggy with Jerry Farwell until he realized he needs these kinds of people to try to win an election. Lots of them! Hence, Sara Palin?
I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen. Jerry Falwell'
He was for estate taxes before he was against them.
http://www.motherjones.com/mojoblog/archives/2008/06/8655_brazen_mccain_f.html
McCain in September 2005:
"I follow the course of a great Republican, Teddy Roosevelt, who talked about the malefactors of great wealth and gave us the estate tax. I oppose the rich passing on fortunes."
McCain yesterday:
"The estate tax is one of the most unfair tax laws on the books."
He was against tax cuts during war time before he was for them.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2008-01-31-2363280763_x.htm
McCain changes story on tax cut stanceWASHINGTON (AP) — Republican John McCain says he opposed President Bush's tax cuts because they didn't come with spending cuts. That is not what he said at the time.
He admitted he didn't know much about the economy until he denied it.
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/01/18/mccain-economy/
John McCain admitted economics isn’t his thing. "The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should," he said. But, "I’ve got Greenspan’s book," he assured the audience
Then there's mindnumbing flipflop on torture that is particularly disturbing. What sad pathetic soul selling place John McCain finds himself in. But...he's admitted before he sold his soul for personal ambition. It's a splippery slope and it's getting steeper.
His former higher minded views on torture have be eviserated by the right wing.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/john-mccain-sells-his-sou_b_86700.html?page=11
Taking to the Senate floor to justify his vote against the torture ban yesterday, McCain twisted himself in knots trying to explain how he could sponsor a bill -- the 2006 Detainee Treatment Act -- that prohibits the use of any cruel, inhumane, or degrading treatment by the military while voting against a bill that would extend that ban to the CIA and other intelligence agencies
Again! He sacrifice principle for personal ambition!
McCain’s Opposition to Bush on Torture Could Run Presidential Ambitions "Aground." http://mccainsource.com/...
The Washington Post reported that "McCain’s bid to position himself as the natural heir to President Bush as a wartime commander in chief and to court conservative leaders in advance of his likely 2008 presidential campaign has threatened to run aground in recent days, as the two men clash over how to detain and try terrorism suspects." The Post went on to note that "some prominent conservatives are branding him a disloyal Republican and an unreliable conservative because of his assertiveness on the detainee issue," including Rush Limbaugh who said that McCain’s opposition to Bush "is going to go down as the event that will result in us getting hit again, and if we do, and if McCain, et al., prevail, I can tell you where fingers are going to be pointed." [Washington Post, 9/19/06]
You could say that McCain's personal mission statement has become if you can't beat them join them. Appeasing the likes of Rush Limbaugh and his ilk is ugly business.
Now McCain is reduced to the shell of what he claimed he wanted to be. He's shapeshifted himself into a prezel to appease the right wing and is reduced to picking a running mate who appeals to the base of the base. She will now apparently be doing a lot of the talking and be the face of his campaign while he stands to the side and beams. He looks foolish.
So to my original question. This is who I think John McCain is. John McCain is a pandering politician with a nasty sense of humor and the inability to control it. He lacks the temperment to be president and he sold his soul to the right wing. He has no business and neither does Sara in the oval office. Sadly, his honor is damaged. The abundance of flipflops he has engaged in for political expediency must sadden even him. He's now reduced to faux outrage about lipstick! This isn't a success story it's a tragedy. John Kerry was correct when he noted that John McCain has become a prisoner of the right.
