Just a short personal diary here. I just moved to Indianapolis from Austin and wanted to convey what I've seen as my wife and I drive around checking out the neighborhoods looking at houses. It's pretty striking and quite unexpected.
First off, I have not seen a single McCain yard sign while I have seen a dozen or so Obama signs, prominently displayed on busy streets. If you are familiar with the area you might think that I'm talking about Broad Ripple (a hip, younger crowd), but we were driving through Carmel and Zionsville, which are more affluent suburbs of Indy where you might expect a more conservative viewpoint. So far, so good.
Then I notice a couple moving in to an apartment upstairs. They have two cars, and both of them have faded Bush/Cheney '04 stickers in their rear windows, and just below that is McCain '08, so at least we have a few of these people driving around, inwittingly getting the message out that McCain = Bush.
I understand we moved from one blue city in a red state to another, but hopefully Indiana will see the light come November.
