I signed up for this a while ago and printed out my list. I really didn't have time to canvass the street until this weekend. This was after a day of canvassing in Virginia yesterday.
Today was supposed to be hot and I had bought a ticket for a fundraiser in Baltimore for MD Governor O'Malley. He has been fairly unpopular because he addressed a budget issue by raising taxes and cutting spending. He did what needed to be done, so while I think the presidential campaign is paramount, we need to support those who are doing a good job in the state.
I had printed my neighbor-to-neighbor list and finally went out and knocked on doors. This is a heavily Democratic area, so I was talking to the converted. I did manage to get three who said that they would volunteer, so that made it very worthwhile.
I like the idea of neighbor-to-neighbor and it helps put the infrastructure in place.
I then headed up to Baltimore. The fundraiser was well-attended and we were treated to a performance by the governor's "retired" Irish rock band, O'Malley's March. He is a good singer and front man. The band was very hot and played very well together. A real treat and one I wasn't sure I would get the opportunity to enjoy, as he has retired the band since he ran for governor. He appeared to have a pretty good time, himself.
