Yesterday I posted a diary entitled, "Dow Falls 504 points -- worst day since 2001."
I went on to offer some research and my two cents about the four great problems that will have to be solved before America's economy can move forward:
- Our Mortgage crisis
- Our Energy crisis
- Our Globalization crisis
- Our Education crisis
You can argue that my opinions aren't worth hearing, but you can't argue that these aren't crucial issues to be debating 50 days before the general election.
Can I ask all of us to stop for one minute and look at a fair sample of the recommended diaries on Daily Kos from yesterday?
"McCain Camp's Fiorina calls Tina Fey "Sexist"
"Gallup admits: it only releases likely voter results when they favor McCain!"
"Pastor: Palin Was Part of Abortion Clinic Disruptions"
...I could go on.
I'm not begging to be promoted to a "recommended diary"
I am begging those who operate Daily Kos to stop and hold an editorial meeting to talk about this. We complain that issues are being ignored, that the election is being trivialized, that Republicans are trying to throw sand in the faces of the voters with a marketing gimmick like Sarah Palin...and yet, and yet...
We are the problem, too.
We are writing, and the central committee that runs the Kossack site is promoting, garbage. Just garbage.
There wasn't a single recommended diary about the economic disaster that befell our country yesterday. Not one.
We saw saw billions of dollars of savings and mortgages flushed down the drain, the check eventually added to our federal deficit. We are strapped to an economy spiraling downward.
...But more than that, we want to hear about Sarah Palin...And Saturday Night Live...And of course, the polls...And Sarah Palin's tanning bed.
This has to stop--and it's got to begin with the stewardship of this blog.
Now.
