Friends, I don't know if you notice what I've been noticing over the past four days, but it is fantastic.
The polls have shown Barack down for about two weeks. He has lost some of his support in the west. Ohio polling shows McCain on the rise. North Carolina is looking more and more like a long shot.
How have we reacted?
We haven't rolled over like a defeated mob. We aren't standing by and complacently eating what these polls are feeding us like it's pablum.
NO!!!
More and more, I see that the break is over. Understand this, the primary campaign was not just a strain on both the Obama and Clinton campaigns. It was also a strain on the volunteers who have committed time, money and energy to the campaigns. Many of us gave up time with our children, took days off work, or time away from school to work for our candidates.
Until even just a few days ago, it seemed like the energy level was waining. Since then it seems like the energy level has ratcheted up again and is as strong, if not stronger, than ever. Over the past two days, I been asked to help produce grass roots videos, help canvass and phone bank by unaffiliated groups (not Obama for President or MoveOn), and been asked to help build an incentive program for people to campaign.
Barack will only get into the White House through our strong effort and determination. We need to be his base. We need to rise up and silence the fear - and replace it with hope. Have no doubt that this is OUR election to win or lose. Barack Obama is our leader but he is a surrogate for our movement.
This diary is only pointing to the return of the wave. Get on it in any way you can. Change is coming.
