With the advance of democracy, Capitalism should have been terminated a century or more ago.
Capitalism is a spiritual, physical, social and economic disease whose ill effects are borne most heavily by generation after generation of the vast majority of humanity; whose blissful effects are enjoyed by an irresponsible, unaccountable, immorally privileged few expecting the freedom to live with effectively absolute disregard for present and future Life on Earth.
How can Democrats, the Democratic Party, not truly embrace the ideology of democracy.
== a form of government in which power ultimately rests with the people, either directly or through elected representatives.
== the principles of social equality as exercised by the people in a society.
A form of government? Any form of government? Even a government that embraces, cannot be identified apart from all the inequities, injustice, egregious excess, unconscionable waste of Capitalism? Capitalism is fundamentally undemocratic and should be reviled by anyone who truly adheres to the basic principle of Democracy.
DEMOCRACY n. [Gr. People, and to possess, to govern.] Government by the people; a form of government, in which the supreme power is lodged in the hands of the people collectively, or in which the people exercise the powers of legislation.
There is nothing about Democracy that sanctifies the possession of private property/individual land ownership, or, that exalts when not merely equates 'individual' rights of capitalist corporations over human individual rights.
Is Capitalism too big to fail? Just saying so makes it that never completely failing is an eternal reality? Freddie, Fannie, AIG, the U.S. banking industry...to big to fail? Capitalism...too big too fail?
Capitalism has been, is, is becoming ever more so the malignant tumor that is the privileged minority bleeding humanity for all humanity is worth. And what now is most likely to happen when the tumor has sucked its host dry to the last reluctant drop without killing its host? What? That's right, start the blood to flow freely, bestow freedom to bleed without reluctance on the part of the host, on the part humanity. Start a war, build wars, humanity is but limitless blood supply when managed well. Human sacrifice for the good of something superior to humanity never ended, it is more virulent now, of more catastrophic potential than ever before.
We Americans as a whole don't get it, though it could never be more obvious. All of my life, all of my late father's life and, but for recent immigrants, all our lives have been in/for a nation that is conceived of Capitalism artificially sweetened with a mockery of democracy. This Capitalist conception we call the United States "America" nation only exists as a consequence of humanity sacrificing and being sacrificed.
To what U.S. justUS had yet to accomplish on foreign soil (middle North America, at that stage of U.S. justUS), Abraham Lincoln completed the first step by fathering the U.S. Civil War and multi-millions of casualties to preserve the integrity of the capitalist tumor never quite disumbilicaled from London. Only in a thoroughly propagandized retrospect is it possible to confer "hero" status on Lincoln because "the war was about freeing the slaves".
How terrified the North must have been after French slaves in Haiti brought a more democratic balance to the island, forcing Napoleon to focus his capitalist empire ambitions eastward! In the march of Democracy across the globe it was increasingly inevitable that the South (by another name for sure) was going to be an African-American governed nation as South Africa eventually became...the latter being accomplished without a catastrophic bloodbath. Getting into the U.S. Civil War, Lincoln never imagined that, like GW Bush, imposing his sense of, timing of, "democracy" where it is neither being sought nor appreciated can be an unbelievably bloody, unforgivable affair.
Were forgetting/ignoring and forgiving the same thing, Lincoln did not get a chance to experience, but, U.S. generations since Lincoln have proven this nation experiences its most righteous calling when it is engaged in warfare...at least after the first recognized U.S. causalities at the start of each war for sure! Now everybody's wringing their hands about Bush and Israel, or the U.S. following Israel to war with Iran, Pakistan and/or Russia....how much more insane can our national predicament get? The United States is indisputably fiscally bankrupt. The United States domestic and global accounts of moral authority are irremediably overdrawn. United States social order is far more an order imposed from above than one within society derived from compassion, understanding and an authentic sense of equality.
