And now in the face of the resulting disaster of Reaganomics and the Bush Doctrine, reality of the state of the nation crashes through the noise of Lipstick and racism.
The Seattle Times Editorial Board today made Barack Obama their choice for President of the United States in a refreshingly well thought out and written Endorsement.
More below the fold.....
Describing the current reality of an economic system that Privitizes profit, and Socializes risk as an "Economic Katrina", the Seattle Times puts it's cards on the table.
Obama should be the next president of the United States because he is the most qualified change agent. Obama is a little young, but also brilliant. If he sometimes seems brainy and professorial, that's OK. We need the leader of the free world to think things through, carefully. We have seen the sorry results of shooting from the hip.
That paragraph pretty much describes my answer to the idiot pundits that think Obama needs to "dumb down" his message. The same people that pooh-poohed his "performance' at the "Faith Forum". We DO need a leader that is actually above average. Obama is more than that....He's brilliant. To all of the morons that try to equivicate Barack with Sarah Palin based on "experience", I always bring up the fact that Barack was the President of the Harvard Law Review, and graduated in the top of his class at both Harvard and Columbia (where he majored in international relations).
Palin took 5 years to graduate with a BS in Journalism from the University of Idaho. McCain?.....894 out of 899 on a legacy enrollment at the Naval Academy.
In terms of Brain power alone, Barack kicks their ass.
This endorsement isn't lacking in "contrast" either....
Describing McDole:
Consider the banking and financial morass. Neither Obama nor his opponent, Sen. John McCain, offers a perfect solution. But McCain is all over the map, veering from statements such as "The fundamentals of our economy are strong" to the more obvious "Wall Street is threatened by greed." McCain is at heart a deregulator. But it is the hands-off and ineffective federal regulatory system that allowed this mess to fester. Obama offered a more coherent approach months ago when he called for regulating investment banks, mortgage brokers and hedge funds and streamlining overlapping regulatory agencies.
Nail. Meet. Head.
The Other really great thing about this endorsement is the fact that they go down the laundry list of issues and describe why they are endorsing Barack Obama.
American optimism has been wracked by President George Bush and a previous Republican Congress. If you want change, you do not keep what is essentially the same team in power. You try something different. You vote for the stronger matchup, Obama and Sen. Joseph Biden, a smart and steady hand on foreign policy and other matters.
I couldn't have said it better myself!
*Update...Wow, Rec List with 14 comments!
That must be some kind of record!
Thanks!
And By the way, I got to shake Barack's hand at the DNC Fundraiser with Barbara Streisand this week!
I was there mixing sound for Barbara and Barack.
A once in a lifetime gig!
