Wasilla, AK-- In a week where rumors and revelation have filled newspaper columns and saturated the airwaves, a new bombshell threatens to bring down the rapidly unraveling candidacy of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
A recently released high school Civics exam has revealed that Sarah Palin may indeed be illiterate. She wrote "I don't understand." when asked to name the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights.
Some Democrats and political analysts are surmising that this could be the end of her on the Republican ticket. A prominent Democrat even went so far as to say that Palin being illiterate may even suggest that she is "unqualified" to be Vice-President.
McCain spokesperson Steve Schmidt had the following to say about the new allegations: "These new smears show just how desperate the elitist Democrats are. Literacy may be something that you need to have to sit up in ivory towers of Ivy League Universities or to impress people on the Beltway cocktail circuit, but it shows how out of touch the Democrats are with America. Governor Palin has more Executive/Foreign Policy/Mothering Experience than both Democratic candidates combined. And I don't think I need to remind you that John McCain spent 5 and half years without a book to read, so he has earned the ability to decide whether or not literacy is a requirement for his VP."
