Here, on the little planet Earth, in a small galaxy we've named Milky Way, somewhere in a very much unknown, lonely part of Infinity, we are all buzzing about, increasingly agitated down here below the azure.
Last week, a distant light mysteriously appears and disappears before Hubble's mystified astronomers. A sign, an oracle perhaps of what is soon to come?
The buzz is intensifying here on earth. Near term events, scheduled events like the upcoming American elections clearly festering strong adversarial energies, domestically and internationally, suggest imminent acts of high profile turmoil and violence in the coming days ahead.
One might assume Hillary presaged all this when she conjured up the Bobby Kennedy assassination. Or Bush with his Armageddon preoccupations and war dreams of Iran. What will his last stand be as the elections near?
Is not Bin Laden or his multitude of fresh martyrs-in-waiting lying in wait for the golden opportunities of our intensely divided USA as it approaches November with all those special events soon to follow?
Are not American cities set to burn if Obama is cheated out of the election or shot?
Will not the underclass ultimately revolt if Palin/McCain get in somehow and further exacerbate the survival of the middle class and poor as they would surely do?
Like it or not, just about any way one looks at the now and near future, very turbulent times are unfolding. Things are coming to a head with a vengeance.
Significant populations, communities will suffer the increasing assaults of nature, social alienation, class resentments and disdain, many life forms will exit prematurely as the result of all these escalating excesses, greed, selfishness and shortsightedness of all the exuberance following World War II.
A precious few will rise up to lead us through this darkness, societies will be somewhat purged of the cultural and political barbarism of the present, religious vision and dogma will evolve, new music and art will re-emerge and re-inspire, the planet will survive a little longer but it will not be as clear blue, as fresh and innocent as it once was. That will have to wait for another asteroid.
