I've lost count of his gaffes (lies?)and if this has been already diaried I apologize, but John McCain continues to be confused. At the Grand Rapids "Town Hall" on Sept. 17th, McCain -- trying to pump up Sarah Palin's non-existent national security credentials -- gets it completely wrong.
Starting at about the 4:55 point in the video below, McCain says:
I also know, if I might remind you, that she is commander of the Alaska National Guard. In fact, you may know that on Sept. 11 a large contingent of the Alaska Guard deployed to Iraq and her son happened to be one of them. So I think she understands our national security challenges.
The only problem is that her son Track is in the Army, not the Alaska National Guard.
So Palin going to see her son off to war had NOTHING to do with her being the commander of the Alaska National Guard (much like Palin being the commander of the Alaska National Guard has nothing to do with her having national security experience) and McCain just continues to get it wrong.
