Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Barack Obama supporter, I was supporting him even before most of you knew him( in his senate campaign). But since the primaries are now over, it's safe to recognize what many of us ,Obama supporters, weren't ready to admit back in April or May.
I do think Obama is the better candidate for the democratic party, but winning the GE with him at the top of the ticket will be a lot more difficult than it'd have been with Hillary.
There was a new AP/Yahoo poll today stating what many of us feared, that a big chunk of white democrats won't vote for Obama because of deep-seated racial misgivings, which could be decisive if the election is close. This poll just illustrates how big a challenge Obama is facing and why we should be careful with polls showing him ahead .There are many people in places like PA who won't have a problem telling a pollster they'll vote for Obama, but would never actually do it .
Hillary would've had a harder time winning states like Iowa or Colorado, but she'd be ahead by double digits in Pennsylvannia,New Hampshire,Michigan,Ohio. She would probably be ahead in Florida and Tennesse too.She wouldn't fear losing ANY blue state in the country. With all due respect, Colorado,NM or Iowa are NOT Ohio or Florida . Hillary would've won this thing in a landslide !!
I still think(hope)Obama will win, but I felt we owed to the Hillary supporters who were being laughed at on this site and others when the suggested Hillary had a better chance, some sort of apology .
Oh, and it might just help unite the party as well .
