There are a lot of diaries on dailykos right now about how horrible the bailout of financial institutions is. They are all right, but just complaining and saying things like "No Way" and "Over My Dead Body" won't change anything. (I must admit I am as angry as everybody else.)
There is a diary over on Open Left titled
If a Legal Armed Robbery Happens in Front of Everyone, Does It Make a Sound?
Absolutely, this is a legal armed robbery!
The only way this bill will change is if we all get together and demand a stiff tax increase on the wealthy to cover the cost. I am going to call my Senators (Boxer and Feinstein) and my representative (George Miller) and demand that. There is no way we should do this without making the rich pay. Update over the fold.
There is another diary written just before mine titled
Bailout Principles - Senator Bernie Sanders
Seanator Sanders is asking for a tax on the rich, that we do not further tax the middle class, that the government have a stake in the bailed out companies, that we re-regulate financial institutions to fix the mess that has been created, and break up companies so that none are "too big to fail." I like it a lot.
Rather than go into detail, just go to that diary and rec it up.
