Dear Senator Obama:
I am an average 59 year old white guy (married, 2 kids and a dog) who unconditionally is supporting you with my money, time and passion. I saw you in Des Moines IA with Oprah and again in St. Paul, when you declared victory in the primary race. I believe from the bottom of my being that you, and only you, can lead America for the next 4 years, and if America fails to elect you as our next President, the American dream will die, no ifs, ands or buts. I apologize for the doom and gloom, but I am compelled to say what I think, believe and feel. I understand the need to have limited your comments concerning the present economic meltdown and your vision and position concerning what America must and can do to confront the same.
However, given that America is at an economic crossroads not seen by most living voters, it is now time for you to have that once in a lifetime "Profile in Courage Moment" and speak not only truth to the power of Wall Street and those that would cow Congress into enacting an unrestrained hail mary bailout of Wall Street, but to the average American voter. You must confront those that will suggest we have no time to waste and must must quickly enact a Wall Street bail out bill. Most importantly, despite the complexity of this economic melt down, you must demand that all of America know and fully understand the intended consequences and possible unintended consequences of this bail out legislation. America does not need theory or appeals to retribution for w's failure of leadership of the past 8 years, but must have your understanding that we, the American people, will once again be the first and primary concern of both corporate America and Congress.
I am a fierce and sometimes unbending, unforgiving, partisan, but you must speak truth to me and America, concerning where America is headed. I believe all of America, dems, the loyal opposition, and independents, are willing to do what is necessary to weather this economic storm, but the sacrifice must not only be across all Americans, BUT proportional to each American's ability to sacrifice. I live by the rule that to whom more is given, more is expected.
Senator Obama, bring it on, I suggest America can take it and will welcome the challenge. These times require, and here pardon my reference, straight honest profile in courage talk, that only you can speak.
