I've been a registered Republican ever since I voted against Ronald Reagan and for Gerald Ford in the primary way back when. I usually vote independant so party affiliaton never meant that much to me. This means I receive all the Republican National Committee mailers. This primary season, I switched parties so I could vote for Obama. I just don't believe in dynasties and I felt that Obama would really throw a wrench in the current Republican leadership's plans to take over the world. (Isn't the right, Pinky?) I mean they are still trying to "use" Hillary one way or another to win this election because they didn't have a plan B. It was inconceivable that Obama might win. Just wasn't gonna happen. And then....
So I received this pre paid envelope from the RNC requesting that I pledge support for John MCCain. It occured to me that I should use this envelope to deliver a message to the Republican National Committee at thier own expense.
This is what the RNC paid to receive from me:
My Friends,
I am sorry to say that I will not support John McCain for President. The Republican party was started by Lincoln whose nick name was honest Abe. John Mcain is a liar. I am not going to bore you with a list of his lies as they are being well documented. I am now the proud owner of a campaign button which depicts Lincoln wearing an Obama '08 t-shirt. Lincoln would be proud.
Joking aside, John McCain has insulted my intelligence by chosing an unvetted, dominionist, self serving and really not very bright running mate. Chosing an unqualified woman as a running mate merely to appeal to female voters is form of affirmative action that is regressive and anti-republican in the extreme. Thoughtless affirmative action is a slap at those who work hard for their achievements. But what I find scarey is the way you have given away the conservative party to religious extremists who pray with people like Muthee. Seperation of church and state is one of the foundations of this country and what has made it great for all. We do not need leaders who will invite witch hunters to lay hands on them and pray for political victory, who believe in spiritual warfare and demonic spells. I would have thought we learned something in Salem a few year back. This country does not need to be terrorized by spiritual warfare. This country needs a real leader who can practise pragmatic and inclusive politics using rational thought, someone who is smart, articulate, and self reflective. Neither McCain or Palin have these qualities.
The Republican party used to be the party of fiscal responsiblity. Now the Republican party is embarking on corporate socialism on a grander scale than Sweden while making the working class pay for their own rape kits. I am disgusted. For all these reasons and more, I have abandonded the Republican Party. Please remove my name from your lists. I suppose, considering Sarah Palin’s vindictiveness, this means I will be on her enemies list. Well, my friends, at this sorry point in time, I feel that it is my patriotic duty to be on that list. My county first.
Sincerely,
