Last week Stewart Acuff, assistant to the national AFL-CIO’s President John Sweeny, helped several union members in a Worksite Leafletting in Louisville, KY.
Several rubber making plants like ASRC and DuPont are all located in one area of Louisville, informally named "rubber town," where this leaflet action occured. Union locals like USW Local 1693 have more than 3,000 members employed at these plants. With information about how "Bruce Lunsford Puts Kentucky First" on the leaflets, these members are getting a chance to learn about Bruce Lunsford and his support of the labor movement versus the damage Mitch McConnell has done to the working families over the past 24 years.
Stewart Acuff was really getting into the action. As he stated, "Kentuckians have got to understand that Mitch McConnell is part and parcel of the Bush-McCain mess."
Stewart Acuff’s excitement about the upcoming election was contagious as union members from, IBEW, ILGWU, NALC, USW, UAW held signs and passed out leaflets to union members on their way to work.
Stewart came into Kentucky this past Tuesday to make a speech at the Kentucky Jobs With Justice Dinner at USW Local 1693 in Louisville. "The people of Kentucky are called on in this season of decision to do what they know is right and ‘Turn Around America’," explained Stewart. "And we can win we will turn around America?if and only if we get out the vote for these candidates!"
