I live in Southern Middle Tennessee, about 50 miles away from Nashville, and We are running out of gasoline. September 12, Last week, Some convenience stores in Rutherford County started limiting drivers to how much gas they can purchase. The Kangaroo on Nissan Drive and Almaville Road in Smyrna( 10 min. from Nashville) placed signs on pumps asking customers to buy only 10 gallons at a time. Some convenience stores in Rutherford County were limiting drivers to how much gas they can purchase. Over the weekend, the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance received more than 500 complaints from people about incidences of suspected price-gouging.
I found this video on Youtube showing the long lines and high gas prices on Saturday. There were long lines at stations across the Midstate as people search for gasoline.
Why does this feel like the 1973 oil crisis all over again?
With gas pumps covered by plastic bags and seemingly no end in sight, the gas shortage continued to cause frustrations Monday morning. Even worse, it looks like the situation might not be getting better for a little while, at least According to AAA, Middle Tennessee's gas shortage will continue for the next few days. It's estimated more than half of Nashville gas stations were out of gas Monday morning. The Mayor of Nashville Karl Dean tells drivers, "Gas Is On The Way." I really hope so.
