CNN Truth Squad's Alina Cho of CNN New York missed the mark and mis-characterized Obama's statements as Misleading, earlier today on the CNN Newsroom program.
Calling all Truth Squads - CNN's is masquerading as one!!!
CNN again shows that it cannot present the news in an objective manner, and attempts to spread the McCain campaign's well deserved reputation for lies and distortions, out to the Obama camp.
CNN's "Truth Squad's" distortion was about Obama statements in Charlotte NC last Sunday that McCain wants to duplicate the "Successes" achieved in the Banking Industry by de-regulation to the Health Care Industry which they stamped as "MIS-LEADING".
Obama's statements were right on, and widely documented as being based on truth, but not according to the "CNN Truth Squad"!!
Alina Cho starts the Truth Squad segment by playing a video of Sen. Obama Sunday in Charlotte NC where, speaking about Sen. McCain, he says: (my quick transcripts from video shown on CNN)
"Now this de-regulator wants to turn his attention to the health care system. John McCain says he wants to do to the health care system what Washington has done to the banking system.
The radical idea that government has no role to play in protecting ordinary Americans has wrecked havoc to our economy." ...
Alina Cho continues by stating that Obama had also quoted from an article that McCain had recently written in the insurance magazine Contingencies. She reads the following quote from McCain's article:
"Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state based regulation."
Purposefully ignoring Obama's main point that McCain had called for a duplication of the "de-regulation successes in the Banking System" to the Health Care System, Cho focuses on the last part of Obama's statement about Bush/McCain's radical ideas about government having no role to play in protecting ordinary Americans.
CNN's Cho then starts her summary by stating that Obama's statements on the surface sound to be right, but makes a blatant jump to conclude that Obama statements were Misleading because McCain had not proposed to re-shape the health care industry in all the same ways as the banking industry, and because "McCain has called for high-level oversight board for wall street".
The main point made by Obama: that McCain has stood for de-regulation of the Banking Industry , and wanted to duplicate it in the health care industry, is one that is backed by statements made by many in the Bush/McCain camp including McCain. McCain, in particular, has clearly laid it out in the article in the magazine Contingencies that CNN's Alina quotes on the air.
But CNN's Cho chooses to focus on a side point and then through some twisted 'logic' concludes that Obama's statements are 'Mis-leading"
CNN and others who take this path of distorting the truth have to be called on it. That was the purpose of inking this diary. We should send them emails to let them know we are listening and call them for their distortions!!
Shame on you CNN, and Alina Cho for distorting the truth under the cover of the "Truth Squad". What a sad case of journalistic mal-practice and lack of integrity!!!
