Is this not the day, the moment McCain has personally come to terms with the end of his candidacy for president?
McCain's abrupt and disrespectful about face with the Obama camp, his own campaign, his commitment to debate and even show up for a Letterman taping today, his "cut and run" off to an utterly unsolicited, self-righteous return to Washington (on the pretext of assisting a bipartisan emergency salvation of the American economy) has lit up his true colors like a computer enhanced pyrotechnic broadcast at a Chinese Olympic event.
Now, he along with Palin are running from the headlights of the press. Running to Washington. Not to meddle with the intricate negotiations already hammed out to benefit Wall Street, but to huddle with Republican operatives to salvage a way to get through the rest of this disastrous campaign with minimal collateral damage to the party (esp. House Republicans).
Letterman is rightfully pissed and not pulling any punches.
CNN has diminished its overly indulgent efforts to be "balanced" in favor of the McCain POV.
CBS (Katie's interview) today has revealed only a sense of pity for Palin's punishment for having been desperately drafted (and accepting) to stand in for an impossible and inappropriate Republican candidate for the presidency.
