This rescue plan is nothing more and nothing less then a power grab by those who deserve it least. It is an artificial boost that any Adam Smith economist will tell you "is destructive" and will not work. The markets are supposed to correct when they are unbalanced. Passing this will only allow those that have created this criminal enterprise more time to plan their escape.
How can we even be talking about this nonsense? Markets are supposed to do what markets do. If these assets are overvalued then they must correct. Propping them up on the backs of American taxpayers is absurd. The markets will correct, at some point, why not now?
Lack of credit... we are already a nation that has a negative savings rate, perhaps we need to freeze the credit for a year and use what we already have.
700 Billion dollars would shore up social security... yet there is already revitalized talk of how these entitlements will "have to be" scaled back because all the money is gone.
700 Billion dollars would be a great start towards universal healthcare... something else we will not be able to afford should this go through.
700 Billion dollars would go a long way towards ensuring that all Americans receive a top-notch education.
700 Billion dollars would pay for a public works program that would shore up America's infrastructure for 100 years.
700 Billion would rebuild New Orleans, and Galveston ... and the more to come.
700 Billion dollars would feed a lot of hungry people.
700 Billion dollars will train a lot of people how to manage their lives and how to work in society.
700 Billion dollars would allow Congress to ensure student loans at a reasonable interest rate for all those who want to go to College and increase the intellectual value of this country's future generations.
700 Billion dollars could pay for this stupid fu&*%ng war and we could start a new one if John McCain wins!
God almighty, what we could do with 700 Billion dollars??????
This bailout is nothing more than George Bush's and Dick Cheney's last ditch effort to bankrupt America for all the little people while it ensures the prosperity of them and theirs.
It is wrong, it is UnAmerican, it is a sham, it stinks and it should not happen. Let the chips fall where they may and regulate the hell out of this system going forward. The job of Congress is not to spend my money to ensure the lifestyles of the chosen few, who are way under taxed anyway.
"Markets not functioning properly"! Really! Nobody, up there on the hill, saw this coming? My friends and I have been talking about it for years. Acre after acre of land being turned into houses for WHO? There are only so many people on the planet. This is ridiculous and each of you in the Senate and the Congress should not play stupid.
We watched as our leaders deregulated everything, spoke of trickle down economics that never trickled down to me. We watched as our leaders passed bankruptcy reform that created a situation that many could not escape.
We listen now as Congress compromises away language that allows judges to restructure bad debt. Would not that be the best solution for someone who is able to pay a fair price for the home that they have already invested heavily in, and is probably not worth what they are paying? Yet we would allow golden parachutes for the ones who created the mess.
The choice is clear, a recession is not the worst thing that could happen to us, blocking it with piles of money will only extend the inevitable and give the thieves more time to plan their escape. Barack and Joe cannot bow to this pressure, "We the People" will understand if the markets correct, we will endure that pain, thank-you. Not the pain and angst that will be felt if this money is handed over to piss poor managers who should have been fired years ago.
If they pass this package, designed to placate the jerks who made this happen, "We the People" will change our tune. This is getting old already!
NO BAILOUT!
Adam Smith will roll in his grave if you allow this to happen. Do not let this happen! Barack Obama has a legacy to build and this will ruin that legacy before it starts. We need a new day and from the ashes, a stronger more equitable economy will rise.
"We the People" will understand if Congress does not let this happen without keeping those that created at the helm.
"We the People" will not tolerate hearing how these people are the experts and they must continue with renewed vigor on the backs of "We the People".
The choices will be tough with lots of noise. Call your Senators, call your Congressmen, call Barack, Call Joe, Hell call McCain, don't let your voice be silenced. Become the rustle in the wind and keep blowing until you are heard. Help stop this now!
