Some great polls numbers out tonight...
I read Mark Halperin's "excreable 'The Page'". (I heard it referred to thusly once, and have never been able to think of it any other way since.)
He is unquestionably a moronic douchebag nearly all of the time, but his I've found his blog to be a great portal to other news tidbits, even though I hate giving him the page views.
I found one such gem today: a tease from a NY Times** poll out tonight that reveals some stunning results about who voters think is running a clean campaign... and who they think IS NOT.
**Yes, I know the Times is apparently no longer a news organization, but I wanted to share anyway. ;o)
Remember, the CW in the TradMed lately has been that the McCain folks no longer cares what the press, pundits, and fellow politicians think or say about their campaign... as long as it flies with the voters.
Ahem... it ain't flyin' anymore.
Senator John McCain is largely seen as someone who is spending more of his time attacking his opponent than spelling out what he would do as president, while Senator Barack Obama continues to be seen as a candidate who is spending more of his time explaining what he would do as president rather than attacking his opponent, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll. This was not the case earlier this summer. In early July, both candidates were thought to be running positive campaigns. (emphasis added)
Specifically:
-
56% said Obama is spending his time making it clear what he would do if elected, rather than attacking the Republican candidate.
- Only 38% say the same of McCain, a drop of 25 percentage points since July. Meanwhile,53% say he is attacking Obama- almost the same as O's positivity number!
- Even Republicans see it: 31% of them say McCain is running negative, when only 19% of Dems thinks so of Obama.
If this "tease" was any indication, I can't wait for the full poll!
A new day is dawning, my friends. FINALLY.
