I'll start this diary with a question. WHERE was this John Kerry in 2004?
Kerry has been a better "attack dog" surrogate for Obama than anyone else, in my opinion. Biden is great and I love him and he was who I supported in the primaries, but his tendency to go off the handle is bad. Kerry stays on message, is fierce, makes great points, and doesn't back down.
Watch the video of Kerry on Fox News.
Pow!
My favorite line:
I mean, he said he was going to interrupt his campaign to come down and save the negotiations. Most people believe what he did was interrupt the negotiations to come down and save his campaign.
Wham!
Kerry easily distills what happened in the financial crisis in nearly a minute of YouTube video, while Wallace sits in the background, hushed by the brilliance, eloquence, thoughtfulness and toughness of the man who SHOULD have been President in 2004.
My political memory was formed in the 2004 race. I remember feeling that Kerry was impotent and that he was afraid to attack. Stories go around now saying that before the Dem convention in 2004, Kerry's team was crossing off attack lines against George W. Bush. That ain't happening anymore.
This new Kerry is great. This new Kerry wouldn't have lost in 2004. This new Kerry is going to get Barack Obama elected in 2008.
Barack Obama was the first person to speak and lay out at that meeting at the White House for about seven or eight minutes the entire parameters of what we had resolved. John McCain, when offered the opportunity to speak, passed, didn't speak until the very end, and when he spoke, did not offer a solution and did not say what he would support.
Kaplow!
I'm proud to say, as a Massachusetts resident, thank you, John Kerry!
I'm also glad to see that the Obama campaign is taking a concerted effort to make people realize McCain's stunt was just that: a stunt. Naturally, thinking of past impotent Democratic presidencies, I figured the Obama camp would back down and suspend its campaign as well. It didn't. It didn't play McCain's game.
And now they're using it against him.
Gawd, I'm just gettin' choked up.
