I was at the Obama website today making another donation, buying a tee shirt, and reading his speech from today in Colorado. I cruised around the site a bit and again was impressed with Obama's well organized and informative website. Then I though, hey, I wonder what McCain has on his website?
Like the rest of his out of control campaign, it's not clear anyone is in charge, or even if they read and understand some of this before it goes up. The craziest part is under the News & Media tab, under News. Here there are articles written by the press, not his campaign, that you would think are laudatory, or at least that are not negative. Well you'd be wrong. We'll start with the AP's Nedra Pickler from September 26.
Republican John McCain agreed to attend the first presidential debate Friday night even though Congress doesn't have a bailout deal, reversing an earlier decision to delay the event until Washington had taken action to address the crisis.
. . .
Obama had always planned to attend the debate and was aboard his plane preparing to take off when McCain's announcement was made. McCain quickly moved to his own private aircraft and headed South with his wife and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and his wife, Judith, on board.
The action contradicted the position McCain had taken Wednesday, when he announced, "I'm directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the Commission on Presidential Debates to delay Friday night's debate until we have taken action to address this crisis."
McCain had also said he would suspend all campaign activities, but in reality the campaign just shifted to Washington while the work of trying to win the election went on.
Here we see, on McCain's website, a story calling him out on changing his mind about the Mississippi debate, and pointing out that he really never suspended his campaign. On his own website.
Another weird thing is the McCain store. He links to two off-site stores that carefully point out that he doesn't get any money from the sale of the items. At one store you can buy items from one of two categories, either the traditional McCain/Palin items, or "Palin Power". It seems pretty odd to me that he's got stuff for sale that highlights his VP and minimizes him. Don't late night comedians mock him for Palin taking attention from him?
Ugh, there's so much more on McCain's website that's wrong, but I'm tired of looking at it. I think I'll go buy another Obama shirt.
