On Saturday there was an "Alaskans for Truth" rally in downtown Anchorage that was a rally attempting to show support for the Alaska legislatures who are trying to hold Sarah Palin accountable. It was not held to be a political rally, but obviously given Sarah Palins VP nomination it turned into one. It was a beautiful fall day in Anchorage, which has been rare this year. About a thousand people (not an exact number) who could have spent their weekend enjoying the beautiful weather before the snow starts falling decided instead to show up and voice their support for the investigation of Sarah Palin, and their desire for her to be transparent and own up to her campaign promise that she would reform the Alaskan politics.
Now, many of you may not be familiar with anchorage or Alaska, and you may think, well that’s not very many people, but the fact of the matter is, Anchorage really is a small city, and Alaska in general is so incredibly conservative, that for this many people to show up to a rally of this nature truly amazed me. We were standing and sign waving along a busy street, and to my surprise the amount of people honking and waving in favor of the rally was overwhelming. It was covered by most of the local news agencies and was seen as a huge success. It really gave me hope and made me happy to see that this many people, not only don’t agree with what Palin is doing, but are willing to stand up and go out on a Saturday to protest her activities.
